Mother's day lunch at Bukit Tinggi

for mothers day, we decided to go somewhere new..
well, it was between Klang Bagan hailam or..bukit tinggi
as my grandma has been there before, we decided to give it a try...

Restoran Yu Kan
Bt, 17 1/2 BUKIT TINGGI
28750 BENTONG PAHAng

Yeah, we went to another STATE. when i realized that i was so excited! haha
actually its not that far, everytime we go to genting..thats Pahang wat... LOL
went to kepong first to pick granny then up to bukit tinggi!
the road was pretty steep and winding. not as much as when going up to the rabbit farm (next post!)
took about 45 minutes plus.
and we were all so hungry, cos we didn't take breakfast...

omg..the place look so KAMPUNG. the atmosphere was so quiet and serene and laid back
cute purple peacock flowers by the "pond". i remember growing this plant for my KH project back it form 2, i think. but mine was red and yellow. Purple is so much nicer. was busy taking photos until my sister pointed out that there were BEES. and i ran away:P
the thing i like most about this place (besides the food) is the atmosphere. its a half open space-half covered and they have 3 fish ponds (that are HUGE) cos they rear the fishes that they cook! so fresh fish is guaranteed! and there are lots of greenery all around. plus the whether was good too!

we reached a little early.they haven't officially open yet.(opens at 12pm) so had bananas for alas perut

the fish pond with beautiful KOI fishes. NOT for eating, obviously!
ahhh these are for eating. but it was rather heartbreaking to see the person catching the fish from the pond in a huge net... and then bringing it to the kitchen.... and it will be presented as our...lunch. POOR fishy!!
cute orange flowers :)

and now for the food!

the four angle bean (rm8) seems to be mummy's favourite, she orders it everywhere we go!
fried sambal belacan style. not bad. was avoiding the petai though and only picking the long beans!
this is the fate of the fishy that WAS swimming happily in the pond :(
one of their house speciality. claypot fish (3kg fish- RM 32.50)
The fish IS very fresh and very meaty as well. but as we reached the bottom , there was lots of oil. hmmm. not sure if its from the fish or the oil they use.
nevertheless, this is a good dish
*thank you fishy, for sacrificing yourself*

this is the fried sotong (rm13) rather disappointing. was not crispy enough and it was a tad bit too oily :( and they didn't have a dipping sauce!
the marmite spare ribs (rm 12) my favourite style of cooking meat! this was good. the sauce was a little salty but its ok when you eat it with rice. was almost scraping the last bit of sauce from the plate!! :p
they recommended this dish, the sandwich tofu. (rm 13) its two slices of tofu (one white and another brown- i think it was fried first) and in between is a fish slice. very yummy. the tofu was silky and smooth. very interesting dish!

the bill came up to RM 86.50 (with Chinese tea and rice) for 5 person. so worth it! and it was my sister's treat! can never get such good food in KL for such price!

overall, the food is great, affordable and the ambiance is really special (going back to nature!) only thing is...it is in another state! lol

rating....a well deserving 8/10!

then we adjourned to the rabbit farm!!

*continued*
