Tang Yuan Restaurant

another food review!

TANG YUAN RESTAURANT (non-halal)

47500 SUBANG JAYA
(TEL: 03-56374292)

Opening Hours: 11.30am to 2.30pm and 5.30pm to 9.30pm
Open daily but closed on Tuesdays

This is the first time I've been to this restaurant eventhough its like just 5 minutes away from my house. We went there for dinner on a Sunday night cos there were only 4 of us eating so no point cooking.

The first thing you will notice is its chinese oriental deco with a modern twist. nothing too old fashion and it still retains a special charm.

The food is a blend of Hakka, Cantonese and Nyona. The menu is quite extensive from many types of spare ribs, chicken, vege, egg, fish, lala, prawns, squids and tofu. You'll be spoilt for chioces!
They also have single rice/noodle dishes.

for drinks, we ordered herbal tea. Pat Chi Chou..with a slight hint of mint. refreshing and very good for the throat according to my mum :P

first dish...also my favourite. MARMITE CHICKEN! bite sizes of chicken deep fried and coated with the most delicious sauce. it was sweet (honey!!!) and the marmite taste was just nice. i actually don't really like marmaite with porridge but whoever thought of using marmite to cook with chicken is a genius!
this is their house speciality. Tang Yuan flame grilled spare ribs.

The spare ribs is cooked with a special sauce . and before serving, wine is poured over on its holding plate and then lit up so it burns the side of the dish ( a make shift bowl out of aluminium foil) enhancing the aroma. wicked!

definitely a must try!

this is our vege dish. "thai tin wong" four heavenly kings if translated! its long beans, petai and four angle beans stir fried with sambal belacan. not bad.

next is beancurd with minced meat and vege. i LOVED this dish. the home-made tofu has a nice, slightly crispy skin and the insides are soft and smooth.it is deep fried before being steamed. it goes well with the minced meat as well.

all the dishes go very well with rice. and even though i don't eat much rice..i actually consumed 3/4 of a full serving!

they also serve clear carrot/turnip pepper soup.

and for deesert...barley foo chuk tong sui. not too sweet and it was a good way to end a very satisfying meal.

the price..our meal was RM 65.10. Average about 15 ringgit per person, also depending on what dishes you order.

quite resonable for home cooked, wholesome food in a nice setting.

service is fast and very good. definitely a plus point :)

i would rate it a 8 out of 10.

Went to Tang Yuan recently and yeah, the food, ambience, and even the music they played is good! Most importantly, the price is reasonably. I will definitely go there again ;)
