genting trip 16-17 august 2008

place: genting highlands (specifically First World hotel)

it all started during a "yam cha" session at ASIA CAFE when hong ping suggested we do something "interactive" instead of the usual movie-lunch thing. so GENTING came up. and initially quite many of us were enthusiastic. but unfortunately only 6 of us made it in the end. i have to say it was a WEIRD combination of people but nevertheless it was refreshing.

Hong ping, bubu, and I did some grocery shopping (for junk food, cup noodles and drinks at carefour)

Saturday morning...met at the subang KTM station at 9 plus. i was FIRST to arrive (no surprises??) then the rest came. took the train to KL sentral only to find out we missed the morning bus to Genting and had to wait till 2PM for the next bus :(
so plan B was to go to Puduraya to catch a bus. Fine, so we took the monorail (i think) to masjid jamek, walked quite a distance to PUDU. and OMG, pudu is such a MADHOUSE. SO MANY MANY people and so chaotic!! and smelly. i'm just not used to this kinda places. and then disappointment no.2 : the next bus was at 1.30pm. sighhhhh. all the way to pudu and the bus is just 30 minutes earlier???
then we headed to McD for lunch..and just hang around there enjoying the air-cond and free refills :P till it was time to go back to pudu to catch our bus..

reached the cable car station at 2 plus. and it was Bubu's first time on the Genting cable car...and a little secret *bubu don't kill me ok??* she has not been to genting since she was 5 years old!! muahahha. so i was like introducing all the "new" things to her :P

FINALLY arrived at genting at almost 3pm. went out for the NICE COOL AIR. omg, it was so good. and i was wishing fervently that the whether was like that in subang. then i really don't mind walking around. hehe. sat on some rocks and dug into junk food!!! but it started raining so we had to seek shelter. wandered around till we could check in out hotel...FIRST WORLD HOTEL. i heard that the rooms were super small and the toilets were teeny, so wasn't expecting much...
well, i was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't that bad. the two single beds were actually quite big, can fit 2 people..and the toilet and bathroom were separated ( a very very good and convenient thing!!) and the sink and mirror was outside.and it was small, no doubt, but then again why would you need such a huge washroom? rest awhile (after all the WALKING practically the whole day made us tired) and had some girly chat before meeting the guys for dinner and a night walk.

decided on pizza hut for dinner, more like us girls insisted on having pizza hut, cos the alternative was having seafood (seafood in genting???) that i'm not sure if its nice or not. well, it was a good thing we had pizza hut too *private joke. LOL*

Then we just walked around and came across this club with a very colourful entrance!!so cool!!
then went back to the hotel where we played "the drinking game" which was taught by hong ping. was reluctant to play at first cos

1. i don't really drink

2. i was too busy watching private practise.

but at last i joined in too. except that my drink was 90% sprite. lol. the game was kinda fun too
then it was supper time, curry cup noodles!! its been awhile since i had eaten cup noodles :P

after that another walk around genting to enjoy the cool air...

came back at 2 plus and the guys were still not satisfied so they went out again but we were ready to call it a day and was just happy to curl up and go to la-la land. i must have been pretty wiped out cos i was able to sleep well ( usually can't sleep on the first night in a hotel room) right until the next morning. checked out at 9 something and then headed down to KL sentral...

oh, on the cable car..it kept on stopping and even went backwards for a short distance, freaky. took us more than 30 minutes to reach down. luckily we managed to catch the 10.30 bus...

the trip was good it a very different way :)
