did i mention EAT? hahah
me being the food blogger, shall concentrate more on the food!
let the photos do the talking!
8th JULY 2008, TUESDAY
meeting point was IMU (where else?) where almost everyone was *ahem* late. when i got there only alisha and adrian was there. and then bill came. yeah, there was a horrid jam in LDP, besides no hurry...
sat in Swarna's car. and kajen insisted that none of us sleep. haha. good thing also :)
(l-r) bill, me, jane, eley, yy, dejun and swarna
first stop: bidor. this is the famous place to eat in bidor! always stop by there when going to penang with my family last time. they also have all kinds of biscuits. and Kajen charmed the shop owner (i think) into giving him free packets of biscuits!
curry chicken noodles. the gravy was rich and very tasty. definitely has the ooomph! two thumbs up! :) must try for all curry lovers!
we ordered a few dishes and rotated it, OSPE stlye. once an IMU student, always an IMU student. lol.
the signature dish. herbal duck noodle. erm, i don't see whats so special about this..but its not bad
wan tan mee, nice but ordinary also. the noodles were springy.
on the penang bridge. and we have a "pseudo" penang bridge right in PJ too! haha. and this reminds me of the fish bone structure of some MSK tumor :p
reached about 3 plus. our home for the next three days: sri sayang service apartments. which is just opposite RASA SAYANG hotel, so jealous. but nvm..
the view from the balcony
the kitchen n dining area
living room, and bill's dolphin towel.
after everyone arrived (the other group from kedah) we headed out for an early dinner at gurney drive. even though it was a weekday evening and not the school holidays, and still quite early...it was still packed. getting a parking was a nightmare, had to walk miles just to get to gurney drive. well, at least can burn some calories before pigging out (doubt it but its a good way to comfort yourself!)
the whole group (all 17 of us) sat at a long table. and ordered practically everything to share...and the food vendors were quite ganas about their tables and chairs. have to order from their stall if you were to sit at "their place"
unfortunately, the food at gurney drive did not meet up to my expectation. i thought it would be much better. i think the standard dropped alot compared to years ago. maybe it got too commercialized. i can think of other places that served better food :( but then again, its not awful or anything and the mentality counts too-"i'm in penang, the food Heaven. the food is good" that sort of thing.
the ou-chien. oyster omelet (not sure wats it called in english)
char kway teow. this was quite nice though
assam laska.
totally disappointing :( much too sour and the noodles weren't nice and hardly came across any fish! was craving of the o&s assam laska!
fruit rojak.
cuttlefish
erm, can't remember what this is :p
pai tee/ top hats. yummy. look and tastes good too!
popiah, too soggy. not nice :( craving for the one in the kepong pasar malam.
ice kacang.
after dinner we planned for our bbq night and divided the shopping list. did our grocery shopping at gurney plaza and kajen made it into a sort of "game show/competition" which somehow i think our group (james, kajen and I) was aware of! hahah
then back to the apartments to hang out and to play all the card games. chee cheong fun and also the murder game. i sat out on most of the games cos i was on "blur" mode. just watched and laughed along. and when they played the murder game, it was like watching a movie! david, eley, yy and me
kajen, david, eley, yy, me and james.
slept at about 2 plus. lol
ok. day 2 shall be continued. tired of typing already
