yoga poses

photos of me practising yoga at home. since the people in the studio didn't allow me to take photographs in the studio, guess i have to do it at home..

Relaxation with proper breathing before every yoga session is important. It revitalizes the entire body, balances the emotions and promotes the clarity of mind.

Bhujangasana- the Cobra pose. This pose helps to align the spinal discs, strengthen the back and energizes the nervous system.

Natarajasana- the Cosmic dancer. This posture develops focus and balance and stretches the upper body.

*not exactly the real thing. not that flexible =p

Virabhadrasana- the Warrior pose. This posture strengthens your legs, back, shoulders, and arms, building stamina. It opens your hips and chest, and improves balance. This is an excellent exercise to start a number of backbends with. The lower back gets relaxed, the leg muscles are stretched and you build up strength in your legs. You also improve your coordination and concentration.

In the Downward Facing Dog Pose, you build up strength in the upper arms and you give space and opening in the back, neck, chest, hips and shoulders. If you let your ankles sink nicely to the floor in this asana, you stretch the calves at the same time. In Yoga, this pose is often used as an exercise in between other exercises, but it is in fact an exercise in itself.

The Child Pose is a relaxation pose which is used to normalize the circulation and to give a counter stretch to the spine. It is a resting pose that can be done to precede or follow any pose. Performing the Child Pose stretches the hips, thighs and ankles gently. It also helps relieve stress and fatigue, and calms the brain.
