Sakae sushi at 12pm

Met up with yin wei and evelyn for lunch today, before yin wei leaves for Australia
we had Japanese food at sakae sushi, subang parade..yin wei's recommendation
we ordered a few dishes to share. good way of eating (can try a bit of all) and easier to split the bill later
and i was the "food photographer" for the day since yin wei said she will get too distracted when the food arrives!

this is the first time eating at sakae sushi (Japanese food for the second time in two weeks!)
since I'm not so much a Japanese food fan, but everyone around me loves Japanese food, so I'm beginning to love it as well!! especially tempura and anything that does not include raw food! something i still haven't learn to eat yet.

and one unique thing about this place is that you have to order on the computer. so high tech! haha. have to click on the menu, select the food and confirm your order, then the waiter will bring the food! so chunted! its very simple n efficient!
ok,the food! can't really remember the proper name and price though

deep fried chicken cubes. i think its about 8 ringgit. crispy and meaty. comes with a nice dipping sauce.
soba, Japanese noodles. not bad. springy and the soup is not too salty.this is 8 ringgit also.
salmon....cooked! hahah. i liked this! this is the soft shell crab creep. basically its soft shell crab wrapped in egg. its RM5.90.
very unique.
for drinks, we ordered hot green tea (rm 1) with free refil. they give you a mug and a tea bag and there is this hot water tap at every table where you dispense your hot water.

this is the garlic fried rice. (RM 5.90) Topped up with fried shrimp ( i think) its nice but the garlic taste isn't strong. the best garlic rice I've tasted was at a Japanese restaurant in amcorp mall, many years ago, when i went with my mum, sister and her bf. that was soooo good.

the California roll.

evelyn and i

yin wei and i.

*yin wei.. have a safe journey and all the best! take care! I'll see you again next year*

the total was...rm44.40. but plus tax was about 51 ringgit. normal price for Japanese food i guess.

all in all, sakae sushi has a great variety of food, good service and reasonable price :)

indulgence day :)

James finally came back from Hanoi. and i got full details about his trip! and also souvenirs!

a gorgeous maroon handbag with embroidery flowers and a handphone pouch. so so nice. yet again, my bf proves that he has excellent taste, even when choosing girly stuff! LOL.
so we had a date on wednesday
breakfast, movie and dessert (the high-light of the day! lol)
we wanted to go to our usual haunt. old town kopitiam for breakfast but finding a parking in sri petaling in the morning was a total nightmare!

so we just went straight to mid valley.
had breakfast at the food court (food junction) on the top floor. and as usual, i couldn't decide on what to eat.
at last i had this dry noodles with mushroom (i was thinking hmmm..they have mushroom, so it should be nice) at the vegetarian stall...
i was soooooo wrong! hmp. first the noodles were drowned in the sauce, the "fake meat" was hard and chewy, and the most disappointing part was the mushroom tasted awful. it had a sour and sharp taste. i don't know if its supposed to taste like that or if it was..spoilt???ewwww. and james was like.."you're forcing yourself to eat your favourite food" which was so true!
and it was 6 bucks!!! horrible!! ish.

then we watched a movie..step up 2. not bad..the dance moves were good, although i don't really know how to appreciate street/hip hop dances. and there were romantic parts too...where andie and that guy (cannot rmbr his name) was sitting up in the tree and she was in this gorgeous white dress (so so nice! especially when she was dancing the salsa, it just twirled and twirled!!)
and fairy lights on the tree....but it was too predictable!

and after the movie, we walked around before having dessert at Haagen dazs. my first time!!
pure indulgence! muahahha

me and my haagen dazs ice cream :) happy as can be!!!

its made out of two scoops of ice cream, coffee and chocolate, lots of chocolate syrup, whipping cream and crispy waffle cone right at the bottom. yum yum!! but its so much nicer to share it someone, cos its definitely too sweet and rich!

3 days before uni starts. haiiiiihhhh. i better blog to my heart's content now...

ole-ole bali

a short food review on OLE-OLE BALI, in sunway pyramid shopping mall (old-wing)
You have to go out through the main entrance and turn left.and its the side where coffee bean is, i think.
I went there with James for valentine's day.
The first thing that you will notice is the beautiful traditional Balinese style deco. the paintings, sculptures and furniture. there is also one section where you can sit cross legged and eat, somewhat like Japanese style, but since i was wearing a dress, we sat a normal table.

nice deco on each table..
Balinese setting. peaceful and tranquil. there's even soothing water sounds..
the ice-lemon tea. nothing out of the ordinary.
the passion fruit mock tail. with a hint of sourness. very refreshing and something different.
ok...time for the food! this is the ole-ole bali trio platter. good for sharing and good for people who want to try everything. they have a special kind of sate- chicken marinated with some sauce on lemongrass, grilled chicken wings and fried squid. also comes with three amazing sauces. a chili sauce, garlic-ginger oil thingy, and Tatar sauce i think. not too sure. but this platter is highly recommended!! (portion is HUGE though!)

and this is the bali style bbq-chicken. rich in flavour and not to charred. served with yummy brown sauce, chips, salad and a piece of watermelon. yummy :)

service was Ok, just one mix-up incident where they served a couple who came in later than us first! besides that, it was OK. the food kind of resembles waterlily cafe style.

overall, i would give a 7.5 out of 10.

uni is going to start in a couple of days time.
and when my mum asked me when my next holiday is..
i dolefully replied..
"no holidays until study break"
in other words..no holidays.
15 solid weeks of classes, two extremely difficult systems , 3 in-course assessment.and...
2 weeks of study break (which is so so so not sufficient)

and EOS SEMESTER 5!!
then to clinical school in seremban..(provided i pass!) which would be my first time away from home sweet home!

and i was reading my old blog (on frienster) and i realized i use to write so much more before. mostly "syiok sendiri" stuff la =p
cos now 3/4 of this blog comprises of photos.and more photos...
i should write more.
1. improve my spelling (i still use the spellchecker to avoid embarrassing mistakes)
2. improve my typing (which is still terribly slow)
3. improve my English

yup, i know. so totally random

ok, i'm on a blogging streak now.this is the last post=p
actually I'm taking a break from studying...

last Saturday, my sister had to work half-day (according to her it is such a waste of time n effort n petrol) so I tagged along again. woke up super early at 6am..

i even brought my favourite pillow along to cuddle in the car. lol

after dropping my sis at the hospital..we went for breakfast! (one of the main reason for tagging along!) another food review..two actually!

I ordered their speciality and one of my favourite food..HAKKA MEE!!
the noodles are springy and delicious. served with mince meat and char siew and spring onions. a very simple yet tasty dish.

and the best part is....
the CHILI!

their special spicy chili is in a jar on every table. so help yourself to it!
it is so very very nice. and goes superbly well with the noodles!
i can go on raving about the chili but I'll stop here =p

my dad ordered the loh shee fun. which is slightly different, cos it was much longer than the normal type. but the texture is somewhat similar. really good too =)
and we had a serving of dumplings too.not bad.

and the coffee met my parent's approval. so i guess it must have been good..

simple setting with great food.

hakka mee!!! something i can never get enough of!
loh shee fun
the start of the day..CHILI!
the wan-tan

Famous Seremban Favourites Restaurant

Food review time...
a place where you can get Seremban specialties in petaling jaya..

Famous seremban favourites restaurant (non-halal)
open daily between 7.30am and 5.30pm except for Tuesdays (closed)
and is located at
No. 80-1 (Ground Floor),
Jalan PJU 1/3B,
Sunway Mas Commercial Centre,
47301 Petaling Jaya.

my dad saw a write up in NST (to view..click here) and so we decided to give it a try...
one thing you really really must try is the char siew@ bbq pork.

its really good..its tender with a not too sticky coating on the outer layer. The best part is even the lean bits are tender so you don't need to be so sinful and order the fatty parts. some people even claim it melts in your mouth! its so popular..so many people were ta-pau/taking away the char siew. they usually run out of it by 2/3pm.the char siew will only be ready at about 10.30 to11am, so get the right timing if you're planning to try the char siew..

for a person who don't fancy pork..i really loved the char siew from this shop. they also serve the sweet sauce on the side

the char siew can be ordered with rice..or separately (rm5 per serving)
they also have Hakka mee (seremban specialty), loh shee fun and wan tan mee.
one of their other specialty is "yau yi mi fun" cuttlefish beehoon. my mum tried it the first time...tastes weird and different..

it will be packed on weekends but service is fast and efficient

and there is also a wide variety of drinks..that are surprisingly cheap...

char siew rice

ice lemon tea & honey sea coconut

wan tan mee..yummy!!

overall...great food& reasonable price& good service. hmmm deserves at 8.5 out of 10! =)

so for all char siew n hakka mee fans, this shop will definitely make your day!

lunch with babra

I got the chance to meet up with zhen wei (or fondly known as Babra!) for lunch on Thursday last week.
Zhen wei was one of my first friends i made back in SAM at Taylor's. So i was almost stuck with her the whole year.that includes scribbling on each other's notes and whacking each other for no apparent reason!!
and then we started calling her babra cos she carried this santa babra bag..and i got the name debra..and bee ling ..erm..due to lack of names ending with "-bra" got named...zebra! muahahah
For once, i decided the place and what to eat. since babra enjoyed Japanese food so much and my sis recommended this Japanese restaurant in pyramid, i decided to give it a try...

We had lunch at Zanmai Sushi, Sunway pyramid (old wing) above Kim Gary.

The place has traditional deco with a modern twist and an open kitchen in the centre where you can actually see the chefs cooking! the menu is quite extensive..with hand rolled sushi, soba noodles, rice dishes, and desserts that looked so tempting but we didn't get to try any due to limited stomach capacity. LOL

I ordered this tempura with rice. Its rm8.80. not bad. the rice is really nice..typical Japanese rice..but oh-so-filling. and the tempura prawn, long beans, lady fingers were crispy n yummy =)

sushi on the conveyor belt. i wonder how that mass of green stuff taste like. not willing to find out =p
zhen wei's sushi. filled with avocado, cucumber and crab stick..i think. n a generous topping of mayonaise.(RM3.80)
soft shell crab maki(RM6.00)
soft shell crab temaki.(RM4.80) the crab was goood =) even if it is so itsy-bitsy
we ordered free flow of green tea (RM1)

After lunch we walked around pyramid..and since the cny deco was still up in the old wing...
photo taking time again=p

me, posing with a huge bright flower. reminds me of thumbelina.
babra & debra!
the closest i can come to seeing a cherry blossom. one day i shall see the real thing in Japan (wishful thinking...sigh...)
was nice meeting up with you dear babra =)

girls day out- food & shopping!!!

This post is a lil back dated..but never mind

It was evelyn's idea for us to go have a girls day out on Tuesday (19Th march) before her exam results on Wednesday. Plus sarah was also busy promoting this fantastic boutique (more info later!) so we decided to go to 1 Utama and then to the boutique.

on the night before.. i received a text message from evelyn and yin wei..Sarah requested us to wear "sweet girly clothes or summer dresses". and i thought, hey, this would be fun! =)

We (Yin wei, Crissida, Evelyn and myself)walked around 1 utama, nothing much to see what more buy. sigh.

Then we went for lunch at Jack's Place. all of us ordered the same set meal of the day. Its in the new wing of 1 utama
*Jack place can also be found in sunway pyramid, near the main entrance*

I shall do a "mini food review" here =p
ok, for the set meal. we were served...

potato and leek soup with garlic bread. the soup was thick and creamy, with small bits of potato.no taste of leek though. (even though I'm not quite sure how leek tastes like..)

the bread..nice and crispy.

the main course..fish fillet with calamansi sauce, peas, carrot and roast potatoes. A nice change from eating chicken all the time. and it is a complete meal. protein, carbs and vitamins =)
the fish was not bad, the sauce..its a lil sour n spicy and sweet.
and evelyn had a problem with the peas and exchanged it for carrots from crissida.

the roast potatoes were good =)
for dessert..no photos. we had a fruit cup. with dragon fruit, watermelon and honeydew, i think. and a cup of tea/coffee. the set meal is rm15.90++ (comes about rm 18 ) quite worth it. nice ambiance and good service

and of course..we were snapping photos while waiting for the food

Yin Wei and I
Evie and I

after lunch we continued shopping..
Yin Wei was looking for a cap for her friend so..we went cap shopping and became "cap models" LOL

the guy was looking at us in a weird way. hahaha

i think she bought the black n white one on crissida..

Then our next stop was to KDU to pick Sarah up and then to AURORA. a girl's shopping haven.

click here to get more info about this boutique (locations, clothes etc.)

Unfortunately..i didn't get to buy anything cos i couldn't find anything suitable =(

the last time i went there (before CNY) i bought 3 items..

and we took photos yet again!!! =)

Crissida, Sarah and i

this is such a nice photo. brings back memories...

then we adjourned to cats whiskers nearby. but not fruitful for me either. so not my day

but hanging out with my girlfriends was enough to make me happy! =)

*thanks evelyn for driving us there

* and Yin wei, i took the photos from your blog cos you're not online when I am. Hope you don't mind =)
