after not baking for a fairly long time, i finally got to indulge in my favourite hobby =)
this time its brownies..fudge brownie
recipe is from PISLBURY THE COMPLETE BOOK OF BAKING..
Ingredients
5 ounce baking chocolate (140 grams)
3/4 cup butter (170 grams)
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups sugar (i reduced it to one cup) (440 grams)
4 eggs
1 1/3 cups all purpose flour (170 grams)
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts (can use walnuts, hazelnuts or almonds) (50 grams)
method
1. heat oven to 180 Celsius
2. line baking pan with grease proof paper
3. Melt butter and chocolate (double boil or using the microwave) add vanilla and let it cool
4. In a large bowl combine sugar and eggs and beat until sugar is dissolved
5. Add chocolate mixture, flour and nuts into (4) and beat until well mixed.
6. pour into prepared pan and bake for 25 to 35 minutes.
7. cool completely before cutting into squares.
and to transform it into a yummy sinfully delicious desert...
1. heat up the brownies on a microwave safe plate for about 1 minute on high in the microwave.
2. put a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
3. drizzle with chocolate syrup...
enjoy the photos! =p
all the ingredients for the brownies
melt the butter and chocolate, it should be nice and smooth. make sure its cooler before adding into the batter..
my masterpiece =D
a fusion of my passion for good food, baking/cooking and chunks of my life experiences and a dash of random babblings every now and then.

happy =)
yeah! endocrine exam is O.V.E.R!
hahha. it was OK. crossing my fingers and hoping for GOOD results =)
after the exam, we went out for lunch in sri petaling...
then to watch HAIRSPRAY at midvalley.
the last time i stepped into the cinema, was like, what, one month ago? almost la.
the show was really good. entertaining, funny and has moral values as well.
a feel good movie. with lots of singing and dancing and really good jokes!
a must watch! esp if you're a high-school-musical fan.
then after the rest left, james and i just walked around midvalley..
oh there is this new extension of midvalley called THE GARDEN.
super high class and super posh place.
with designer stuff and all. i can only afford to window shop. hehe
ooo, i did buy something....chocolate hazelnut gelato.
the atmosphere was really nice and posh with great classic architecture. new and fresh!
and also many things have been going on...
IMU CUP- M106 got 3rd place overall, a HUGE improvement from last year. oh, im so proud! (although i didn't contribute anything-i'm hopeless at sports and the only exercise i do is yoga) and our cheer leading team VENUS got second place! who hoo~ congrats! =)
and also unfortunate news about a very dear friend, please get well soon.i know you're a fighter..we really really miss you.
and alicia, another one of my closest girlfriend just flew back to UK. missing you so much, gurl.
a gift from her from japan. thanks so much!
its sooo going to bring me lots of luck, eh?
a lunch with evelyn and alicia at secret recepi subang parade before alicia left.
i ate KIDS BURGER, and when i ordered, the waiter looked at me one kind.haha
reproduction system is starting on monday. all we get is two days to catch our breath then start mugging again.
no, im not complaining =p
will be updating my blog more real soon.
i owe mummy a birthday cake.her birthday was in august.....its the thought that counts, yea?
so going to enjoy the weekend =)

Avril Lavigne --When You're Gone--
I always needed time on my own
I never thought I'd need you there when I cry
And the days feel like years when I'm alone
And the bed where you lie
is made up on your side
When you walk away
I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now?
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone
All the words I need to hear to always get me through the day
And make it OK
I miss you
I've never felt this way before
Everything that I do
Reminds me of you
And the clothes you left
they lie on my floor
And they smell just like you
i love the things that you do
When you walk away
I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now?
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
And when you're gone
The words I need to hear to always get me through the day
And make it OK
I miss you
We were made for each other
Out here forever
I know we were
All I ever wanted was for you to know
Everything I do I give my heart and soul
I can hardly breathe, I need to feel you here with me
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone
The words I need to hear will always get me through the day

post mortem meeting for IMU charity run/carnival was yesterday. i left at 1030pm and the meeting was still going on.
Our event was a success.YAY!
and rough estimates and calculations show that we exceeded our target! whee~
but confirmations still needed.
kudos to all the committee members! and everyone who played a part in this huge huge event.
although there was the usual complaining and whining from me....working with you guys was great! i learnt many things and made so many new friends from other batches =)
and now time to concentrate on my studies. less than 3 weeks away from endocrine end of course assessment. and a different format of exam this time around. we're in semester 4 now. the so called "honey moon" semester.
hmmm...doesn't seem that way to me.
oh, had a surprise visit from my auntie( my dad's brother's wife, i call her "sam-sam")from USA. she came down to Malaysia yesterday.although i haven't got to see her yet (cos i came back so late from the post mortem meeting)
she brought gifts for my sister and i! hurrah! hahah
two gorgeous COACH handbags..
even the wrapping was so nice! eeeee!
both the design were the same.only one was a lighter shade of brown.
i love it so much ^.^
well, got to get back to my PBL now....

phew~ what a week!
the longest time ever since i posted up something.
Have been pretty busy.
Especailly with the start of the new semester.
And IMU Charity Run/Carnival 2007..me being the head of department for prizes & souvenir..didn't know i was taking on such a huge responsibility!
but anyway, the event was sucssesful..except for some minor blips.
and left the commiittee members all drained.
well, it was worth it =)
and ever since i came to IMU, i have been soooo charitable.
oh, and i also took on the task of preparing 200 packets of spaghetti for CAMPUS FRIENDS food booth for the carnival. of course i got help from mummy dearest and a few of my batchmates.
thank you so very much! the spagetthi was sold out so fast, too bad the sauce i cooked wasn't sufficient. if not we could have earned more! =p
and today (10th september 2007) is our (james&i) 21st month anniversary.
happy anniversary dear..
more updates, but not so soon la

Yut Kee Coffeeshop
This morning, my family and I went to a very special place.
A "real" kopitiam. not the new modern ones.
They serve really good, traditional food.
YUT KEE RESTAURANT
35 JALAN DANG WANGI
50100 KUALA LUMPUR
BUSINESS HOURS: 8AM TO 5PM. CLOSED ON MONDAYS.
TEL: 03-26988108
this restaurant was established since 1982. and my dad used to come here to eat when he was a kid.
It is obviously a very popular place. there were people standing around waiting for seats when we arrived. luckily, we didn't have to wait long.
the menu is written on the board on the wall.you will be spoilt for choices as the menu is very extensive! from toast bread to french toast, boiled eggs,to all sorts of fried rice, noodles, chicken chop, lamb chop, pork chop..
service was excellent. the food arrived in less than 10 minutes despite the large number of customers.
we ordered a few dishes to try out and none of them were disappointing =D
this is my favourite. Hainanese chicken chop
a portion of chicken in nice thick gravy served with onion, potato wedges and mixed vegetables. not to dry not to heaty.really good.
the char siew rice. nice also.generous serving of meat and the rice was fragrant.
the hokkien mee.delicious.
ok, this is something you should try, the french toast. a thick slice of bread soaked in egg and fried to a golden perfection. not too oily and really good when eaten with their homemade kaya. a must must try.
plain toast. just like any other toast...
and my parents say the coffee is really good. i never got to taste it. hmp. not a big fan of coffee anyway.
all in all, an ideal place to go for breakfast/brunch/lunch/tea time...whatever. they have meals to suit just about anyone. and the price is extremely reasonable. the four of us had a satisfying meal..that lasts us until evening. and it was only 32 ringgit
overall rating: 9 out of ten!!! :D

earring hanger
i bought an earring hanger. the type where you can see in shops selling earrings.
tons more easier to organize and display my beautiful collection of earrings.
i'm so addicted to earrings. especially long dangly crystal ones =D
my favorite shops being ABOVE, those in THE CURVE BAZAAR and the 3 or 4 for 10 ringgit stalls in shopping malls.
found it in the wholesale shops selling earings, braclets and stuff in petaling street.its only 25 ringgit.
so so happy!!

seafood at bagan hailam, port klang
to celebrate my mum's birthday (belated) and her retirement, my family and I went to eat seafood in klang on Merdeka Day!
BAGAN HAILAM SEAFDOOD RESTAURANT
NO, 56 BAGAN HAILAM
42000 PELABUHAN KLANG
SELANGOR
TEL: 0162329323
its quite complicated to get there. my dad went on and on, took turns and small roads..to finally get there.
its a quaint and a bit "kampung-ish" place with an "old-world charm"
the restaurant is in a wooden hut above the sea. nothing fancy, but the breeze is really nice.and the food is fantastic.and reasonably priced.
first on the menu. HAILAM MEE.
favourite among my family and i.
thick yellow noodles in gravy, topped with prawns, chicken pieces, shredded carrots and cucumber, sliced onion, fish cake, and lime. quite hard to describe the taste but its really good.and special.
this dish is their house specialty. Thai tofu.
crispy (but not oily) "tofu-poks" in sweet and slightly spicy Thai chili sauce, topped up with shredded cucumber and carrots and a generous sprinkling of crushed peanuts. yummy. all the ingredients go with each other very well.
next is fried squid. basically is sotong, dipped in batter and deep fried. nice and crunchy =)
this is the baked crab. its plain so can taste the sweetness of the crab. very meaty..and the shell was super hard..lol. and of course i get the crab's claw!
and a steam fish for my granny. just like any other fishie...with loads of ginger and garlic.
and the day won't be complete without taking photos!!
my big sister and mummy and me
my cousin and i...
cute little potted plants and cactus...
the six of us went and the bill was less than 120 ringgit....
overall rating..erm...8.5 out of 10!
